Edible Oil Producers Association brings edible fats and oils refiners together to address the unique challenges and opportunities of our segment of the supply chain.

Active Member Qualifications

Per EOPA bylaws, in order to become a member a company must have refining, bleaching and/or deodorization facilities located in the United States, Canada, and/or Mexico that, during the prior calendar year, engaged in the refining of more than 20 million pounds of edible oils or fats for use in “food,” as such term is defined in the U.S. Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. Applications are reviewed and approved by the EOPA Board of Directors.

Affiliate Member Qualifications

Per EOPA bylaws a company in which an existing active member has a substantial ownership interest, and which is itself substantially engaged in the processing other than refining of edible oils and fats in the United States, Canada and/or Mexico shall be eligible to be an Affiliate Member, and shall be admitted to such membership with approval of the EOPA Board of Directors.

EOPA is an advocate for the fats and oils industry and allows direct interaction with decision makers.

EOPA represents the fats and oils industry in Washington, D.C., by providing direct access to with legislative and regulatory decision-makers whose responsibilities and actions impact member businesses.

EOPA provides targeted updates, access to members only content.

EOPA aggressively monitors, analyzes, and engages in domestic and global regulatory and legislative issues affecting edible fats and oils refiners proactively apprising members of key challenges, opportunities, and actions. EOPA provides a comprehensive weekly newsletter to its members and other urgent updates as the legislative and regulatory climate dictates. EOPA has a members-only website which allows access to industry best practice guides, fact sheets, talking points, and other special projects.

EOPA serves as a liaison with other industry groups to address legislative and regulatory issues of mutual concern.

EOPA engages with food and agriculture organizations, alliances and coalitions that represent the entire supply chain linked to the production and use of edible fats and oils. EOPA interacts regularly and coordinates closely with its international counterparts in Canada, Mexico, South America, Southeast Asia, and the European Union.

EOPA’s special subject matter committees and working groups, comprised of the industry’s leading experts, are an integral component of its work in the areas such as: technical innovation, food safety, nutrition and labeling, environmental standards, workplace safety, public and government relations, transportation challenges, energy policies, trade barriers, market updates, and fats and oils statistics. EOPA engages proactively to predict emerging trends and regulatory impacts on its member businesses.

EOPA monitors, analyzes and reports on scientific research in the fields of nutrition, environmental science, biotechnology, processed contaminants, and heavy metals. EOPA researches questions associated with governmental regulatory policies; and develops fact sheets covering timely topics and topics requiring a consistent response from the edible fats and oils refiners.
